A description for these earrings.
This necklace combines natural rock crystal with Swarovski crystal in a random pattern of colours.
The randomness of the rock crystal pieces combined with the precise shapes, yet random colours of the Swarovski bicone crystals makes it a little bit special.
It’s a long rope style necklace that can also be worn stacked as a bracelet, or even as a double-strand necklace.
Finished with a little heart charm and Sterling lobster clasp.

Silver Jewellery handmade by me that make beautiful gifts for you to give or to keep.
Handmade jewellery makes a very special gift because it has an unmistakably human touch that cannot be found in machine-made jewellery from a factory.
Jewellery is one of those items that we don’t need, yet it is perhaps the most common way of self expression that we have, and the strongest link that we have in our daily lives to art.
Not very many people I know have bought paintings but almost everyone I know has bought and worn jewellery. In many cases the reason for the jewellery is tradition such as a wedding bands, but even then our desire for self-expression is evident in the design we choose, and the link back to art is evident in the notions of “beautiful” or “ugly” and “good taste” and “bad”.
I remember when I first discovered handmade jewellery. Up until that point I had always gone for the design, never stopping to look behind the design to wonder how it was made. It never occurred to me that the piece would have been made in a factory my machines, or even in a sweat shop.
Now the only jewellery I buy and indeed make is handmade because I want something more original than a mere carbon copy.
Silver jewellery handmade by designers is a big growth area. The ranks of handmade designers are swelling as more and more people
- look for ways to express themselves,
- become disillusioned with corporate life or
- look for ways to combine work with spending more time with their families.
This means that there is a vast amount of choice out there for the buyer. At no other time in history has there been so much choice out there in terms of the materials used and the array of designs.
The designs available are almost limitless. In the jewellery world very little is new, and most things are just re-inventions of something else. However the detail is all-important in jewellery: it’s all about making a connection. The designer gets inspiration from something, and breathes life into a collection of silver and some minerals and a piece of jewellery is breathed into existence. It contains the inspiration of the designer. Sometime later someone else sees the piece and recognises something of themselves in it, thus a connection is made. This is why handmade jewellery is always more special than machine made, because with handmade no two piece are ever alike- human hands are simply not as good at reproducing carbon copy replicas as machines in factories, and with humans it is the same- no two of us are the same either.
Silver is almost perfect as a material for handmade designers, its malleability is well within the range for using with hand tools- compare with platinum where machinery and precision tools are a necessity. Silver is hard enough that it can hold its shape, but soft enough that it can be hammered or textured in other ways. The surface of silver can be left dull, or it can be treated with successive grades of abrasive and polishing materials to achieve a high shine. Silver tarnishes over time and in the presence of certain chemicals (e.g. sulphur) to create an antique look that can be very effective.
My passion is for silver jewellery handmade by human hands, I hope you will consider handmade designs the next time you have a special gift to buy.
